The primary purpose of the Intercultural Diversity Advisory Council (IDAC), originally formed in 1988 as the Intercultural Advisory Council, is to assist in the formation and review of policies that assure non-discriminatory practices in all operational areas of the Clovis Unified School District. Its further mission is to assist in improving the cultural environment of the District.
Boris Elementary will have 4 IDAC meetings
this year as one way we will continue to build cultural competency. We are
proud to be the first school on the west coast to be part of the Positivity
Project, a nationwide effort to educate and promote acceptance of ALL in our
schools and communities. The Positivity Project promotes that relationships are
the cornerstone of health, happiness, and resilience. They equip schools with
the training, strategy, and resources to inspire students to build positive
As a part of our school culture and environment, students,
staff, and our community have embedded many events and practices throughout the
school year. Our students have come to look forward to our annual multicultural
potlucks, fashion shows, dance performances, talent shows, art projects, and
more. Our ever-growing Human Relations Council have become leaders in
multicultural and character education, promoting events and activities such as
National Mix It Up Day (teachingtolerance.org), Pay It Forward experiments, and
overall belief in #OtherPeopleMatter Mindsets. Intercultural Diversity Advisory Council (IDAC): draws members from parents to represent our school at district level climate assessment/problem-solving meetings.
